552 student participants from 30 pre-university institutions1 participated in the Pre-University Seminar 2025 Closing Ceremony held at Nanyang Technological University. Into its 56th edition, the annual seminar, which was co-organised by the Ministry of 91´«Ã½ and Tampines Meridian Junior College this year, was themed 'Re-imagiNATION' to encourage students, as stewards of the future, to explore innovative and improved solutions to various challenges facing the nation. Through rich discussions and interactions with people of diverse backgrounds, students explored the future of Singapore across three sub-themes, "Thrive, Connect, Grow"2, and were given insights into a range of issues, policies, and perspectives to build a stronger Singapore.
2. Minister for 91´«Ã½ Mr Desmond Lee was the Guest-of-Honour for the Closing Ceremony, where he delivered the keynote address and engaged students through a dialogue, addressing their questions about Singapore's current challenges and future directions.
3. The theme of this year's seminar drew inspiration from Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's call for 'A Singapore Where We Realise Our Dreams' at National Day Rally 2024, underscoring the ongoing efforts of Forward SG in rallying Singaporeans to reflect on their shared values and aspirations, and establish a common ground to refresh our social compact. This collective envisioning of Singapore's future was the focal point of Pre-University Seminar 2025.
4. The seminar, which ran from 2 to 5 June 2025, kicked off with learning journeys that allowed students to gain valuable firsthand insights through direct observations, engage in meaningful discussions with key stakeholders, and develop a deeper understanding of the lived experiences and perspectives of citizens affected by the challenges they were tackling. This was followed by panel discussions to deepen students' understanding of their interest areas, as well as dialogue sessions with experts and solution mentors to enhance their thinking skills. The seminar culminated in a showcase of the students' Solution Proposals, which were informed by their key reflections and takeaways, depicting how they and other stakeholders can play a role in re-imagining Singapore's shared future together.
